Psalm 63 - The Desire Psalm

What does it mean to truly desire God? Psalm 63 pulls us into one of the most raw and honest expressions of spiritual longing in all of Scripture. Written by David in the wilderness, this psalm paints a picture of a soul that thirsts for God the way a dying man thirsts for water in a desert. But here is where the psalm surprises us: it is not primarily a call for us to manufacture that kind of desire on our own. Instead, it points us toward something far more liberating. The psalm builds through wave after wave of confident love, worship, and trust, and then in the final verse, it shifts abruptly to speak of a king. That shift is everything.
