MEET THE TEAM

Riley Mitchell

Redeemer Youth Director
Riley is a Waco native and completed his undergrad at Wheaton College (BA English Writing). During college, he was an active member in his local church (CPC Wheaton), where the Lord grew his faith and love for His Word and worship. After graduating, he stayed in Illinois to intern with his church, while also working on a farm and then as a social worker, before moving back to Texas for seminary. He is currently pursuing his MDiv at RTS Dallas. During his first year there, he served in the Middle School Youth Ministry at Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas, before coming to Redeemer Waco to serve as Youth Director. Riley is eager to lead our Youth, that they may "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Pet 3:18), whose "love is better than wine" (SOS 1:2).

Riley loves good literature, music, coffee, and friendships, all to the glory of God.

Cambelle Starnes

Redeemer Youth Associate
Cambelle Starnes, a former Dallasite, came to Waco to attend Baylor University were she earned her degree in Art, was a member of Chi Omega, and served on the ministry team for RUF. She loved the Bears so much that she went on to earn her graduate degree in Education. Beyond her service to the church, Cambelle is a middle school art teacher at Midway, where she helps foster a love for beauty in her students and guides young artists to express their God-given talents.

When she isn’t in the classroom or the youth room, you’ll probably find Cambelle at a Bible study in a local coffee shop, cooking up something delicious in the kitchen, or working on a new painting (she takes commissions by the way). She is passionate about helping to model feminine virtue to students and reclaim the glory of art through a Christian worldview (after all, aesthetics are a powerful tool in discipleship).

Bryce Tonkin

Redeemer Youth Associate
Bryce Tonkin is one of Redeemer’s Youth Associates. He writes curriculum, teaches Sunday School, and mentors students with the steady conviction that the old paths are still the best ones.

A Waco native, Bryce defected to Dallas for a few years to earn a degree in Political Communications from SMU. He cut his youth-ministry teeth leading middle-schoolers at Park Cities Presbyterian Church while staying deeply involved in his Christian fraternity (BYX) and RUF. With an appetite for more schooling (and because he missed his dog), Bryce found his way back to Waco, where he is now simultaneously pursuing a Master of Divinity at Truett Seminary and a Master of Arts in Curriculum & Instruction at Baylor (and getting exactly as much sleep as you would think).

When he isn’t in a lecture hall or teaching kids about the Gospel, you’ll probably find Bryce editing forthcoming books at Baylor University Press or wrangling data for his various research roles on campus. If you can’t track him down there either, he is more than likely off smoking a thoughtful cigar with a friend, reading old authors, debating the existence of dragons and faeries (they're real), or quoting Tolkien to children who have never heard of hobbits.
