About

Here at Redeemer Waco

We are about Good News, Not Good Advice.
This means learning to build our messy lives and relationships around Jesus and his salvation- the Good News.
This is how Redeemer connects with God, each other, and mission in Waco. Everyone craves good news.

More and more people are reportedly asking the church today, “Can you tell me any good news?”
Rediscover church with some new friends.

What We Believe

We hold to the absolute authority and sufficiency of the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the inspired Word of God that is without error. The Bible is the only unfailing rule of faith and practice, which centers on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the powerful good news of what Jesus has done for us in his life, death, and resurrection. Jesus is God and lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead in victory over sin and death. The Gospel is good news about what has been done for you, not good advice about what you need to do. By the Gospel we are accepted and forgiven by God, made to be more like Jesus, and finally brought home to the full enjoyment of God in His presence forever.

Everyone is made to glorify God by enjoying Him forever. The church is made up of those who believe in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins and have been redeemed to enjoy him. The incomparable, holy Triune God is the center and end of all things, including the church.

We are committed to the historic faith as expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. In short, we believe sin is worse than we think and we need a salvation better than we think. Thankfully, God has accomplished reaching, renewing, and redeeming broken sinners like us.

Redeemer is a part of the Presbyterian Church In America (PCA) denomination, which is distinct from other Presbyterian denominations. Our denominational world may be an unknown world to you and that makes you ordinary at Redeemer. Many at Redeemer did not grow up in Presbyterian churches, including some of our pastors. To be Presbyterian simply means we believe there should be multiple leaders doing and sharing the work, not just one autonomous pastor calling all the shots. We believe the Bible teaches this form of leadership and produces wise, healthy, accountable leadership. Redeemer is led by a team of elders among a broader network of churches that come together to learn from each other, train new pastors, and care for one another.
