The Story of the Bible

What if the entire Bible could be understood as a single, unified story rather than a collection of disconnected books and rules? That is exactly the lens we explored in this session as we traced the grand arc of Scripture from creation to Christ. At the heart of it all is a deceptively simple theme: God with his people in a place. This pattern, introduced in the Garden of Eden, was shattered by the fall, yet God refused to let it end there. Instead, he announced in Genesis 3:15 the coming of one who would crush the serpent and restore what was lost. What follows across the entire Old Testament is not a random series of events but a carefully unfolding pattern, promises given to Abraham, acted upon through Moses, and reaching their highest expression under David. Yet each of these high points ultimately breaks down, revealing that Israel was never the final destination but rather the scaffolding pointing toward something greater. Understanding this saves us from reading the Bible as a collection of moral lessons about ourselves and opens our eyes to see it as a story about the one who does for us what we could never do for ourselves. The more we grasp this storyline, the more every passage of Scripture begins to glow with a deeper and more personal meaning.
